eSIM vs local SIM in Mexico: which is better for a two-week trip?

I'm heading to Mexico for two weeks and can't decide between getting an eSIM before I fly or just buying a local SIM once I land. I mainly need data for maps and messaging, maybe a few calls. Which option usually works out cheaper and less hassle?
