I'm planning a trip to Mexico and wondering if I should get an eSIM or a local SIM card. What are the pros and cons of each option? How's the coverage and pricing?

eSIMs are often more convenient since you can install them before your trip, and they activate automatically when you arrive. With a local SIM, you might find lower rates, but it requires more time to purchase and set up in Mexico.

Coverage with eSIMs can be quite robust, often offering similar access to networks as local SIMs. However, be sure to check that the eSIM provider covers the specific areas you'll be visiting to avoid any connectivity issues.

I used a local SIM in Mexico, and it was super cheap. I paid around $10 for a week, but it took a bit of time to find a store and set it up.

I prefer eSIMs for their convenience! I installed mine before my trip, so I had data as soon as I landed in Mexico. No need to hunt for a store!

Local SIMs can be great, especially if you're going to stay longer. I’ve heard the customer service is better at local shops too, if you need help.

I used an eSIM for my Mexico trip and it was seamless. I didn't have to worry about changing cards, plus I could top-up through the app easily!

I had mixed experiences. The eSIM worked well in cities, but coverage was spotty in rural areas. A local SIM might have been better for those parts.

If your trip includes multiple locations in Mexico, I'd recommend eSIM for ease. But for a single region, a local SIM could save you some money.
