Samsung Galaxy A54 won't activate eSIM after landing in Cairo

Question

I installed my GotoeSIM plan at home in the UK and turned the line on, but after landing in Cairo my Galaxy A54 still shows no service and no data. I've tried toggling airplane mode and restarting twice. Do I need to change any specific settings on Samsung for it to connect in Egypt?

On Samsung, go to Settings, Connections, SIM Manager and make sure the eSIM line is switched on and set as the default for mobile data. Then check Settings, Connections, Mobile networks, Network mode and pick 5G/LTE/3G/2G auto, and confirm Data roaming is allowed on that line.

Same phone here and it worked once I turned on roaming, which felt wrong but is normal for travel eSIMs since you're technically roaming onto a local network. Reboot after that and give it a couple of minutes.

Check that you didn't leave your normal SIM as the default data line, that tripped me up for a full day. Swapping the default to the eSIM fixed it instantly.

If it still won't connect, dial the settings menu and confirm the eSIM profile shows as enabled rather than just installed, since an installed but disabled line behaves exactly like no service. Our app shows the line status and you can re-enable it there.

For me the fix was just waiting until I was outside the airport, the indoor signal near baggage claim was terrible. Once I got to the hotel it connected on its own.

Also worth checking you're not in some power-saving mode that restricts background data, my Galaxy kept blocking the connection until I turned that off. Battery saver can be sneaky like that.
