How fast does a top-up apply in Dubai if I run out mid-trip?

I'm in Dubai for 10 days and my data balance is almost gone. If I top up from the app while I'm out, how quickly does the new data kick in, and do I need to do anything special like restart my phone? I'd rather not lose navigation in the middle of the city.

Top-ups in Dubai apply instantly once the payment goes through—usually under a minute. You don't need to restart your phone; just make sure mobile data is on for the eSIM and you'll see the new balance in the app.

I topped up in Dubai Marina last month and it was live before I finished my coffee. No restart needed, but I did toggle airplane mode once just to force a fresh network connection.

Mine applied in about 30 seconds in the Dubai Mall. I was worried because I was mid-ride, but maps kept working without any interruption.

One tip: buy the top-up before you hit zero if you can. I waited until I was totally out and the app took a bit longer to sync, maybe two minutes.

If it doesn't show up within five minutes, open the eSIM settings and confirm the line is still selected for data. In Dubai, a quick toggle of the eSIM line off and on usually refreshes it.

I topped up twice during my week in Dubai and both times it was instant. No extra steps, just paid and kept scrolling.

Mine worked right away, but I had to switch my data line back to the eSIM because my phone defaulted to the local SIM after a restart. Easy fix.

I was in the desert outside Dubai and the top-up still went through in under a minute. Coverage was surprisingly good, so you should be fine anywhere in the city.
