When does the validity of my Sri Lanka eSIM plan actually start?

I'm flying to Colombo next week and plan to install my eSIM before I leave. Does the plan's validity start when I install it, when I connect to a network in Sri Lanka, or on the day I purchase it? I want to make sure I don't waste any days.
