Can I keep my home WhatsApp number active while using a Vietnam eSIM?

I'm heading to Vietnam for two weeks and want to keep using my home WhatsApp number for calls and messages. If I install a travel eSIM for data, will WhatsApp still work on my original number? I don't want to lose access to my chats or have to switch to a new number.
