I installed my GotoeSIM eSIM before flying to Rome and it shows bars, but I have no internet since landing. Data roaming is on and the eSIM is selected for mobile data. What should I check next?

First, make sure the GotoeSIM line is turned on in your eSIM settings and set as the line for mobile data, since the phone can keep using your primary SIM otherwise. Then check that Data Roaming is enabled for the GotoeSIM line and that its APN is set to the one in your activation email, because a wrong or empty APN usually causes exactly this. If it still won’t connect, toggle Airplane Mode for 20 seconds, restart the phone, and try a manual network scan.

Happened to me in Milan and it was the APN: mine was blank, so I typed the one from the setup instructions and it worked immediately. Also make sure you didn’t leave a VPN or private relay on, because that blocked my data until I turned it off.

In Florence I had to switch my primary SIM off completely. Even with the eSIM selected for data, my iPhone kept trying to use the physical line. Once I disabled the primary line, the eSIM connected within a minute.

Try a manual network selection instead of automatic. In Venice my phone latched onto a network the eSIM didn’t have a data agreement with, and picking the listed partner network fixed it. If you see 5G but no data, also try switching to 4G/LTE.

If the eSIM shows bars but no data, confirm you actually landed on a supported network and that your plan is active in the app, since an expired or not-yet-started plan won’t pass data. It also helps to check whether your phone has a Data Saver or Low Data Mode enabled for the eSIM line, as those can block background traffic. If none of that works, contact support with your order number, phone model, and a screenshot of your eSIM settings so we can check the line from our side.

For me it was a phone setting called “Allow mobile data switching” that kept flipping data back to my home SIM. Turning that off made the eSIM stay connected. Worth checking in Cellular settings.

I had no data until I reset network settings. That wiped my saved Wi‑Fi, but it cleared a bad carrier profile and the eSIM came alive. Only do it if you’re okay re-adding Wi‑Fi passwords.

In Rome my issue was that the eSIM was installed but not “turned on” in the SIM list. I enabled it, set it as the data line, and restarted. Also, if you’re on a train between cities, expect brief drops because coverage moves between towers.
