Will WhatsApp on my home number still work in Vietnam if I use a travel eSIM for data?

I want to keep my regular number active so I can receive WhatsApp messages and calls from family while I'm in Vietnam. I'm planning to buy a travel eSIM for data and keep my home SIM in the phone. Will WhatsApp still work on my home number, and do I need to turn anything off so I don't get charged?
